software.gallery is run by Geoform LLC, 84 N 9th Street, Brooklyn, NY 11249.
Draft for review
A plain-language draft for the founder and counsel to review. It may change before it is final, and it isn’t legal advice.
A person reviews every app before it goes up. These are the rules for the apps in the gallery and for the people who use it.
Not allowed in the gallery
- Malware: software that harms a device or data, hides what it does, mines currency, or installs things without consent.
- Credential harvesting: anything that collects passwords, keys or payment details under false pretenses, including pages that imitate another service’s sign-in.
- Cloned apps: copies of someone else’s product, name or icon presented as the original, or listings that suggest an affiliation that doesn’t exist.
- Getting around payment: software that defeats another product’s licensing or copy protection.
- Fake proof: invented screenshots, mockups of features that don’t exist, and bought or self-written ratings.
- Anything illegal where it is offered, and anything built to harass, threaten or spam people.
Using the site
- Submit real apps, with an email address that is yours.
- Don’t send submissions in bulk or by script, or try to get around the limits on them.
- Don’t try to break into the site, overload it, or make our fetcher open addresses it shouldn’t.
How we enforce it
We decline submissions that break these rules and say why. If an app in the gallery breaks them, we take it down. We may block addresses that abuse the submission form.
Report an app
If an app in the gallery breaks these rules or looks unsafe, write to mail@software.gallery with its link and what you found. Security reports get looked at first. If it copies your work, see copyright and takedowns.
